Soi 8 Pub and Restaurant is a popular stop for people in Bangkok. While it plays host to tourists, it also houses a relatively large ex-pat crowd.

The drink selection draws from countries near and far. On the low end are draft pints of Chang for 99 baht and Tiger for 110 baht. San Miguel is 120 baht, Heineken is 170 baht, and Erdinger Weissbrau is 190 baht. Meanwhile, Boddingtons, Hoegaarden, Guinness and Kilkenny will cost visitors 220 baht each. There are also bottled drinks available, as well as shots, cocktails and wine.

Soi 8’s claim to fame is that it boasts Bangkok’s longest Happy Hour, which lasts from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. daily. Additionally, all spirits are buy one, get one free on every Thursday.

Breakfasts of eggs, meats, cereals and fruit are available all day long. Appetizers include a mix of local cuisines as well as food from afar, such as prawns, bruschetta, spring rolls, chicken wings, squid or calamari, french fries, scotch eggs and pork rolls. There are sandwiches and burgers to choose from, pasta dishes, a large selection of entrees from both the land and the sea, and even meat pies. Additionally, there is a section of the menu dedicated exclusively to Thai food.

Looking for specials? Each weekday, from noon until 4 p.m., Soi 8 offers a lunch special for 199 baht. On Tuesdays, the purchase of one drink after 7 p.m. allows patrons to partake of the ongoing grill party, until the meat runs out. On Sundays, from noon until 7 p.m., Soi 8 plays host to all-inclusive specials with an entree, sides and even a choice of dessert. And if you’re feeling lucky, toss a coin with Mick the manager between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. that evening. If you call it right, you can choose from a selection of drinks for free. If you call it wrong, you merely pay regular price.

The restaurant offers free Wi-Fi, which is best taken advantage of during slower hours. At nights, the lively atmosphere at Soi 8 is further fueled by live music. These acts run the gamut from rock to blues to jazz to acoustic. Some evenings, DJs also show up to spin some tunes.

As for Saturday: Saturday is Sport Night! Soi 8 has television sets located throughout the restaurant for sports fans to catch the games that are airing. The pub airs everything from rugby matches and golf, to both European and American football.
