Sky and Sand Bar (Bahnhofstraße 6-8, Mörfelden-Walldorf, Germany)

For a night out on the town with a particularly wishy-washy group of friends that can’t decide if they want to bust out some dance moves or gather around a table and sip drinks, Sky and Sand Bar is the perfect compromise for everyone without anyone having to sell his or her expectations short.

Inside, the party is hopping, as the bar is nearly always playing host to one event or another, whether it’s a seasonal party like Halloween or Carnival / Fasching, or a made-up themed one, like pajama parties or rock and metal nights. During these times, the bar will often offer drinks specials, such as select beer like Astra or Heineken costing only 1,50 Euros, and discounts on long drinks or combinations of energy drinks and liquor. Weekends also play host to various DJs who turn the bar into something more like a club.

Outside is a more relaxed, beach-like atmosphere, with sand below and sky above, plus patio loungers, palm trees, and tiki torches, for people who want to spend less time dancing and more time chatting. Weather permitting, this “Beach Garden” often opens at 3 p.m. for the afternoon crowd to soak up the sun’s rays.

Highly recommended is the Sky and Sand Cocktail, the bar’s 6 Euro signature drink. Those who prefer beer should instead consider dropping by on Astra or Heineken-sponsored nights, where 10 Euros covers the cost of unlimited consumption of a particular kind of beer the entire night.

With the exception of being closed on Mondays, Sky and Sand opens at 7 p.m. each night and stays open until midnight, with the exception of Friday and Saturday, when it closes at 5 a.m. Sky and Sand Bar and Lounge is located at Bahnhofsr. 6-8, and is a short walk from the S-Bahn Mörfelden stop.
