Koeri (M7,11, Mannheim, Germany)

Koeri is a café and restaurant in Mannheim specializing in currywurst, otherwise known as the poor man’s steak. Although currywurst originated in Berlin, Koeri keeps the traditional dish alive and well in Southern Germany. This dish is prepared in a variety of ways and presented in a modern, stylish ambiance. Lunch and dinner are the meals of choice, and are served in either a sit-down or on-the-go manner, although Koeri is also available to cater off-site events.
While sausages are the specialty here, the non-meat-eating crowd can dine too, as Koeri offers vegetarian and vegan options of this classic favorite. Customers can also order fries alone or with their entrees.
In addition to the standard dips of ketchup and mayonnaise, there are also sauces ranging from curry to peanut to cheese to aioli to herb flavor. Select sauces are available with an eight-point scale of heat, beginning at the mildest (Bambi) and culminating at the spiciest (KO).
Roasted half-chickens also have their place on the menu. Meanwhile, potato salad, coleslaw, cucumber salad and even a traditional green side salad can be purchased as accompanying sides. Generally speaking, prices at Koeri are on the slightly higher end of the fast food spectrum.

Fritz Cola is a specialty beverage at Koeri, and comes in the traditional cola flavor, in addition to melon, apple-cherry, orange
lemonade and citrus lemonade. The alcoholic drink menu serves up wine and beer, like a bottle of Astra Urtyp for 2,40 Euro.

Koeri is located at M7 11 in Mannheim and within a short walking distance of the bars Wittkoop and Novus. It is nearest to the Kunsthall tram stop.

It is open on Monday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. until midnight, Thursday from 11 a.m. until 1 a.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m., and on Sunday from noon to midnight.
