There’s always something going on in Berlin’s Mitte district. And that is especially true for this bar, the Keyser Soze (Keyser Soze Berlin)
The bar named after the dubious Hungarian mafia leader from the 1995 film ‘’Usual Suspects’’ is located on the corner of Tucholsky- and Augustastrasse. It’s one of the favored among young visitors to the German capital. Yet the majority of its clientele consists mostly of neighbors and locals, something that the crew of Keyser Soze has been quoted many times to take great pride in. And rightfully so!
Buy your friends a Berliner Pilsener for €2.70 or let them enjoy a glass of sparkling wine (Prosecco) for only €2.80. There is a great number of beers and a big wine list with red and white ones from France, Spain, Italy or Portugal to choose from. They also offer a variety of simple and delicious German dishes during the day. If you think your friends would rather show up for breakfast you can buy them a Latte for €3.20!
The bar has a bizarre mixture of 90s and retro 60s décor with old dark-red furniture giving it a classic touch. Little zebras cover the walls and the bar’s guests also admire the glass counter which, as they say, is quite futuristic. The many regular guests, who have been coming back for years, appreciate the great atmosphere at Keyser Soze – often busy but always relaxed at the same time. This comes as no big surprise since it is located within a walking distance from Oranienburger Strasse, the Friedrichstadt Palast or Rosenthaler Platz but a little off the beaten track and not your usual tourist trap.
The bar opens early at 8.00 am and it doesn’t close its doors before 3 o’clock in the morning. One can reach Keyser Soze with the S-Bahn lines S1, S2 or S25, the closest station being Oranienburger Strasse. There is another bar not far from here, where you can buy your friends drinks through Buddy Beers: Sankt Oberholz at Rosenthaler Platz.
