Joe's Bar (Schönhauser Allee 157, Berlin, Germany)

It’s always nice when the Average Joe has a place to go to hang out and relax, but also let off some steam if needed. Joe’s Bar in Prenzlauer Berg is exactly that kind of place. The two-story bar, lounge and club offers patrons a place to chill out upstairs and a dance floor to get down on downstairs.

The bar is decorated in a classy vintage style and bathed in red lights, establishing an easy-going but fun atmosphere. There are a variety of themed nights, such as Tuesday’s open mics, when musicians, performers, comedians, dancers and more are all welcome to show off their talent. Weekend nights play host to a rotating cast of DJs, who pride themselves on playing everything but the mainstream.

While you’re there, quench your thirst with beer from neighboring countries: bottles of Staropramen and Heineken run about 2,50 Euros each, while a bottle of Belgium’s finest, Duvel, costs 4 Euros. Or, choose a beverage from the British Isles, like a bottle of Britain’s Newcastle Brown Ale or Ireland’s Bulmer’s Cider, for 4,50 Euros each.

Additionally, if you’re throwing a party, Joe’s Bar is the perfect venue, as you only need to pay for your drinks. The rest – the costs of renting the space out and a minimum amount of sales – are not needed. The only requirement is that you bring your friends and come ready to drink and have fun. With a dance floor that accommodates up to 250 people and a full soundsystem including turntables, CD players, and mixers, there shouldn’t be a question as to where your party should be.

Joe’s Bar is located at Schönhauser Allee 157. It opens every evening at 8 p.m. and the party goes until late, late, late! There are a handful of public transportation hubs within walking distance, and it lies equidistance between the stops Eberswalder Str. and Senefelder Platz on U-Bahn line 2. The M1 and M10 trams also stop nearby.
